Security guard assaulted in carpark

A 54-year-old security guard was assaulted after asking a man to stop urinating in a carpark last night. !

Police were called to the Riverton Leisureplex just after midnight where about 50 people had reportedly been fighting outside. !

Most of the people had left the area by the time police arrived. !

About the same time, police were told a security guard had been hospitalised after an assault. !

A police spokeswoman said the 54-year-old, who was working at the centre, reportedly approached a man urinating in the carpark and asked him to move on. !

The offender then punched the guard in the face, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the bitumen. !

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with minor injuries. !
