A door supervisor was left with serious head injuries after he was assaulted by a gang inside a Bridge Street night club.
The 40-year-old Security Officer needed hospital treatment following the attack at Rain, next to 53 Degrees, which happened when he and three other door supervisors tried to eject a group of seven rowdy men at around 1.30am on Friday.
The gang, all from Manchester, had refused to leave and broke into the cleaning cupboard from which one of the men seized a broom that he then used to hit the door supervisor with about the head.
The club was evacuated to protect the safety of the customers while the disturbance took place.
Jonathan Boucher, director of 53 Degrees, said: “The seven men were all quite big and refused to leave so the door supervisors had to restrain them – they were animals and I don’t want them back.
“The door staff did a great job ensuring the safety of the customers but unfortunately one of them was injured.
“The police were called using the town centre radio and they arrived very quickly within a minute or so.”
This was the second time in just over two weeks that a Security Officer has been attacked in the bar.
A 37-year-old door supervisor needed six stitches after he was stabbed in the face with some scissors after he threw out two men he caught smoking on March 25.
Mr Boucher added: “We are trying to turn the place around. We are doing everything we can to make the venue as safe and comfortable as possible and apart from that incident we had a great weekend with 2,500 customers through the doors without any trouble.
“We have just invested in Club Scan and will be id-ing everyone who comes in from Friday and groups of four men or more not from Warrington will not be allowed in.
“Pubwatch is working well and town is becoming much safer – those men will now be barred from every pub in Warrington town centre.”
Three men, a 25-year-old, 26-year-old and a 34-year-old were arrested on suspicion of causing affray and assaulting police officers.
They were bailed until June 11.
A police spokesman said: “A large disturbance involving a number of men occurred inside Rain night club.
“A staff member was assaulted and received serious injuries resulting in hospital treatment.”

Charity shop in plea for security guard after raid
A CHARITY shop is appealing for a volunteer security guard after thieves stole £600 worth of stock during a break-in.
The theft from the Cancer Research UK shop on Nicolson Street is thought to have taken place in the early hours of Saturday morning, with the culprits even making off with the charity's donation box.
The shop has been targeted by thieves on at least five occasions since it opened almost 20 years ago and deals with shoplifters on a daily basis.
Elaine Robison, 48, who manages the 18 Cancer Research UK shops in the Edinburgh area, is now appealing for someone to act as a guard, as well as donations to help cover the cost of installing an burglar alarm in the shop.
Miss Robison, of Loanhead, was given the bad news by the store's manager, Sam Watterson, who made the discovery when she went to open the shop on Saturday morning.
Miss Robison said: "I felt absolutely sick. I think it's a very sad state of affairs when people have to reduce themselves to doing this.
"The staff and volunteers are astounded, they just can't believe it. We have had staff in tears. We are all devastated."
Hundreds of pounds worth of new and donated goods were stolen in the raid, including antique cameras and jewellery, which were taken from the window display.
The thieves hand-picked the higher quality clothes from the rails and even made off with the clock from the wall and a bottle of perfume from the staff toilet.
The shop's CD player and fragrance oils and room sprays, created especially for Cancer Research UK, were also stolen.
All the computer games, DVDs and CDs on the media stand were taken too.
Fortunately, no money is kept in the cash register overnight.
Miss Robison believes the thieves entered the shop by breaking the lock on the front door, before making their escape via the back exit.
The shop was closed on Saturday morning as police investigated and staff worked to tidy the store.
Miss Robison said the loss of sales for the morning amounted to around £500.
A police spokesman said enquiries into the matter were ongoing.
He added: "Police were called at around 9.10am on Saturday morning to investigate an alleged housebreaking at a charity shop on Nicolson Street.
"We are now asking for anyone who was in the area on Friday night and noticed anything suspicious to contact police immediately."

Security Guard Attacked With Knife While Delivery Cash
The Post Office are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for this robbery.
At about 2.15pm on Thursday 2 April 2009 police were called to the post office on Old Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield following reports of the attack.
On arrival officers found a man had threatened a security guard with a knife before stealing the box he was carrying.
The box contained a significant amount of cash.
The robber got into a white J-registered Peugeot 106, being driven by another man, and escaped.
This car was later found abandoned off Poolstock Lane.
The robber is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, with blond/grey hair. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and spoke with a local accent.
His accomplice was also white, and had dark hair.

Security guards stabbed by youth
Two Security Guards have been stabbed after they chased a group of youths suspected of shoplifting from a store on Oxford Street in central London.
The injured men attempted to apprehend about eight teenagers outside the Nike Town shop.
A 33-year-old Security Officer suffered wounds to his arm and lower back and was taken to hospital for treatment.
His colleague, aged 21, was treated for a leg wound and a female guard, 22, was punched in the face in the incident.
The teenager who stabbed the guards lost his T-shirt during the scuffle outside the store and was last seen running topless towards Tottenham Court Road.

Doorman's ear is bitten off in club
CLUBBERS watched in horror as a man sunk his teeth into a doorman's ear and ripped it from his head.
The young thug attacked the Door Supervisor as he was being escorted from Liquid & Envy nightclub.
Witnesses spoke of how the detached ear was placed in a bag after the attack.
A row is believed to have broken out between a man and his girlfriend at the club, in Station Way.
The man followed his partner into the ladies toilets, which led to Security staff intervening.
He then turned violent and resisted attempts to restrain him.
The reveller then attacked the doorman, biting off the whole of his right ear.
Russell Quelch, manager of Liquid & Envy, insists the incident was a one-off and has sprung to the defence of his club.
He said: "It is not the big event that it seems. There wasn't even a fight. It was a quick incident.
"This is a freak incident that does not usually happen here.
"Our sympathies are with the doorman at this time."
A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that they attended the incident.
The spokesman said: "A male patient suffered an injury to his ear and first aid was being administered before we arrived.
He was taken to East Surrey Hospital, in Redhill."
*A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with GBH with intent in connection with the incident at Liquid & Envy nightclub.

Stabbed, punched, kicked and bottled
Door Supervisor lifts lid on the shocking scale of drink-fuelled violence he and his fellow doormen face each weekend.
Danny Ryan is just 23. Already he has been stabbed, bottled, kicked, punched and abused for simply trying to do his job.
He earns £10 an hour – but each night he takes his life in his hands as he tackles the drunken thugs responsible for the tripling of violent crime in Church Street.
Speaking about life on the frontline, Danny, the head doorman at the Lighthouse club, on Church Street, who lives in Dallas Road, in the Owton Manor area of town, has needed hospital treatment on several occasions after being caught up in trouble during his time as a doorman at various venues around the town.
He said: "I have worked the doors for about four years now, at pubs and clubs all over the town."I saw the comments in the Mail about the police on Church Street not being paid enough on a weekend - and I think the door supervisors should fall into that category as well.
"We are on a pittance of a wage, yet we risk life and limb every time we go to work.
"I have been stabbed in the back on one occasion, and in a separate incident I needed staples in my head after being hit with a bottle during one fight.
"We are often dealing with the trouble before the police get there, trying to keep people apart or restraining them until the police arrive.
"I'm not surprised the figures have gone up, because I witness trouble every weekend."I clock on at about 10.30pm on a Friday or a Saturday and until I clock off at 4.30am I am in and out of the club all night.
"There are four of us on the door at the Lighthouse and if you throw someone out and it kicks off outside you can end up with a mini riot on your hands with everyone having their say.
"The problem with Church Street is that by the time people get there, they are full of drink, and it's definitely got worse since the extended drinking time came in."
"It tends to be quieter up Victoria Road because people start off up there but by the time they get to us, the risk of bother is greater because they have had more to drink.
"Danny, who works during the day as an IT technician for Kingfisher Computers, in Church Street, admits the level of violence has left him contemplating whether to quit as a doorman.
He added: "There are times before a shift you wonder whether it is worth it.”We get paid about £10 an hour and I see the job as a way of boosting my earnings as my other job is part-time.
"But when you consider we are basically the front line for any trouble and we're constantly being either verbally or physically abused then you do sometimes question whether or not to rap it in.
"But we do have to work hard to get a licence to work the doors, it's actually easier getting a passport than a door licence and I think if the clubs employed more of us then the trouble might die down a bit more."

City doorman fights back against racism
A Norwich doorman has decided to fight back against regular racist attacks by taking the offenders to court.
Jordanian national Door Supervisor Murad Musa, who has lived and worked in Norwich since 2004, claims to have suffered repeated racist attacks whilst working on the doors of venues in the city.
After previously suffering in silence, the 31-year-old Security Officer, from William White Place, decided enough was enough and to do his best to ensure his abusers end up in court.
And so far, six people have been successfully prosecuted following investigations by Norfolk police.
Mr Musa said “I just do my job and if I tell someone something they don't want to hear they'll start shouting all sorts of abuse such as 'paki, foreigner, immigrant and black bastard'.
“I'm sick of it. I don't mind being sworn at, but if someone attacks me because of my colour that is an illegal offence and I've decided to make a stand.”
Mr Musa works for a security company which place him at venues such as Office, Optic and the Slug and Lettuce, as well as pubs such as the Blueberry pub on Cowgate.
He said raising the profile and making the yobs realise he will not sit back and accept the offensive remarks was the best way to tackle the problem.
“When people get drunk they say all sorts of things. It's far too easy to say something about someone with colour - especially if they are a bit ignorant.”
Norfolk Constabulary confirmed the cases, one of which is still being dealt with.
Det Sgt Ian Fox, who leads Norwich's Hate Crime Unit, said: “No-one should have to suffer being subjected to any kind of racist abuse or criminal behaviour in our city whether in their leisure time or in the course of their work.
“We work hard together with other agencies, like the Norfolk and Norwich Race Equality Council (NNREC), both to robustly and swiftly investigate any complaints and to encourage people to report racist incidents to us.
“I applaud Mr Musa's bravery in reporting the incidents he has endured and I would encourage other people to view him as a positive example and to follow his lead.”
